A few photos from the Club\u2019s trip with 12 of us staying at the very remote Tyncornel hostel. One of us walked 14 miles from Cynghordy station to the hostel, while those coming by car drove along the scenic 7 mile single track road from Llandewi Breffi, with the last mile being an unmade track! A convivial evening was had by all in the lounge with a very cosy log burning stove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday saw two walks organised, both from the hostel. One group walked down the Doethie valley, very beautiful if rather wet underfoot, followed by walking round part of the very extensive Lynne Brianne reservoir on forestry tracks. The tracks led us to Soar y Myndd chapel and then back to Tyncornel. The other group walked over the hill south of the hostel and round in a circuit, walking north up the Doethie valley back to Tyncornel. The weather was very kind with blue skies and sunshine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both groups enjoyed home made cake on return to Tyncornel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Saturday evening communal meal was excellent and the evening was spent relaxing in the lounge, making good use of the log burner. The night sky was amazing \u2013 no light pollution!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, the sun shone and the sky was blue, though there was ice on the picnic tables outside the hostel! There were three walks, of varying lengths depending on travel distances home, all from the hostel. Two of the walks went south from the hostel. The longer walk explored a standing stone on a ridge, and a return through woodland, with a very steep descent at the end! The third walk went east to Soar y Myndd chapel, then north west on a minor road before ascending a grassy ridge onto the Cambrian Way and returning to the hostel. Ten people left Tyncornel after a very enjoyable meet, while two people had made independent arrangements to stay an extra night or two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
