Eryri/Snowdonia – January 2026

A few photos from the Club’s trip with 12 of us staying at the very comfortable and well equipped Y Capel Bunkhouse on the west side of the Eryri/Snowdonia National Park. Despite the very strong winds on Saturday, four of us had a great day walking the whole length  of the Nantlle Ridge, east to west, due to the prevailing wind direction that day. Two other groups enjoyed interesting lower level walks directly from the bunkhouse. These included exploring the Dorothea Slate Quarry, other nearby quarries and a couple of cafe visits.

On Saturday evening after an excellent communal meal some of us settled down to look at Chamonix maps and guide book to share our ideas and do some initial planning for the July meet in Chamonix.

On Sunday, as often happens we split into groups depending on our routes home and had we all had some excellent mountain and hill walking including reaching the summit of Moel Hebog, walking up the Arrans from the southern end of Bala lake and exploring a Hewitt, Foel Goch, located approximately between Bala and Corwen.
