Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons)

16th-18th April 2027

£TBA

For our April meet, we’ll be heading to South Wales’ Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, also known as the Brecon Beacons. Our superbly-located bunkhouse is right at the foot of Pen y Fan’s steep and dramatic north face. We’ll be able to walk from the door up a choice of well-defined ridges to the 886m summit, and along the top of the impressive sandstone cliffs to the neighbouring peaks of Cribyn and Fan y Big. A little further to the west lies the Black Mountain, where the twin tarns of Llyn y Fan Fawr and Llyn y Fan Fach nestle beneath grand crags. Or perhaps we’ll head south and visit the celebrated waterfalls near Ystradfellte.

Our simple and great value accommodation will be at the Penstar Bunkhouse, a converted barn on a working farm. It has a fully equipped kitchen, spacious dining and living areas and three dormitories, and just in case the Welsh sunshine doesn’t put in an appearance, also features under-floor heating and a drying room.
