Location, location, location! The Carlisle Mountaineering Club Hut is best described as ‘basic’ but is set in a wonderfully remote area with great views and walking from the door.
On Saturday two groups set out on circular routes encountering surprisingly strong winds on the ridges. On return there was fizz for a birthday celebration before an excellent evening meal which was followed by port, cheese and chocolate.
Sunday dawned damp and overcast. Those with long journeys left by car to make a short walk over and around Cat Bells while others crossed Dale Head Tarn to the Honister Pass and returned to the hut via Borrowdale.
