Scafell Pike – March 2018

It’s a long drive round to the SW Lakes but on this occasion it proved worthwhile. The Club’s inspection of the newly opened Little Ground House found it up to the mark with the all important wood-burner in the comfortable lounge area and more than adequate heating in the bedrooms.

On Saturday the weather was slightly better than forecast but still involved a great deal of mist. Undeterred the party drove up to the new car park at the head of Wastwater returning to the hut by the ridge above the lake and a detour to the Strands pub and microbrewery. On Sunday the weather was perfect for getting up something higher so a snowy Scafell Pike it was.
