Brecon Beacons, Apr 2019

The Dinefwr bunkhouse lies just outside the town of Llandeilo at the extreme Western end of the Brecon Beacons. Described as ‘an estate bunkhouse full of rustic character’ it seemed to have as many staircases as its 16 bedspaces but eventually everyone managed to find their way to a bed and dump kit.

On Saturday, Storm Hannah arrived with promises of 70 mph winds. Not the best day for a high level walk and members headed out for low level alternatives or navigation practice, returning via tea shops or the town’s real ale pubs. Business at the Club’s AGM in the evening was swiftly concluded before the usual excellent meal and a glass or two of wine.

On Sunday the wind eased and the day dawned brighter (at last! – Ed) and most groups headed off for an enjoyable high level ridge walk on the Carmarthen Fans.
